All Candidates Meeting: Ward 3

It was a pleasure to meet the constituents of Ward 3 at the Urban League Debate. This event was a bit more lively, as two incumbents, Leroy Osborne (Trustee) and Peter Cuddy (Councillor) were present at the debate table. Both individuals are vying for a position on the city council. Before the debate began, the other trustee candidates and I introduced ourselves to the audience.

I participated in canvassing with Zak Rahim, the city council candidate, and had conversations with numerous constituents in Ward 3. Some residents mentioned that since they no longer had children in school, they didn't see the need to vote for trustees. I respectfully responded that even if your children attended in the past, your perspective as a parent and voter remains important. It's important because these parents have gone through the experiences that children face, and they've handled the issues that future students have yet to encounter. Their input is vital for future generations of students. This is why I value parental support; my daughter attended a TVDSB high school and, despite facing some challenges, she is a successful individual today. It's crucial to recognize that you're not merely voting for a trustee, but for someone who will help pave the way for the next generation of students, who will eventually care for and potentially govern us. We should remember that on October 26th, although trustees receive little attention during municipal elections, conversations I've had at the door indicate that it's still a significant role. I am open to collaborating with parents and students because the current situation at the TVDSB is concerning. Voters have a voice in this matter and can bring about change.
