All Candidates Meetings: Ward 2

I attended one of the numerous candidate meetings last week at the East Lyons Community Centre and was pleased to meet many of the constituents from Ward 2.

The Urban League presented the trustee candidates who attended the meeting, and it would have been ideal if they had the opportunity to discuss their platforms with the attendees. However, the city's issues took precedence, which is understandable considering everything currently happening in the city.

Community members gather for a public meeting hosted by the Urban League, where a panel discusses local issues in front of an attentive audience.

The TVDSB has previously partnered with the London Police Service for its school

resource officer (SRO) program. Former and current teachers have informed me that violence and bullying in our schools have become unmanageable. If elected as your trustee, I would aim to reinstate this program. I would also support collaboration between the city of London and the school board to create incentivized vocational employment programs for youth. We could begin with a pilot program and build from that point. Programs for sharing facilities and spaces with the municipality are already in place.
